Photographer and photojournalist. He worked for the Yomiuri Shimbun's photography department, producing news photos and documentaries in Japan and abroad. After the Great East Japan Earthquake, he became a freelance photographer in 2015 and moved his base to Fukushima Prefecture. He continues to produce photographic works mainly on subjects related to the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident. He has an interest in philosophy and folklore, and creates works to explore the truth of the universe.
