taisyo
An independent photography book label launched by Masafumi Sanai in 2008.
‘taisyo’ means contrast, and he has been producing a series of vague and indefinite photo books. The fact that he is putting out a series of ambiguous and unclear photo books is too unique to be a contrast to anything else. Photography is about capturing the individuality of the photograph, not my individuality. It's about ‘surrendering to the photograph’. I am not there. I'm not entirely absent. I'm there a little. That's ‘taisyo’.
