Osamu Murai, in his profession as an architectural photographer, expressed the present world by photographing representative works by artists such as Kenzo Tange and Seiichi Shirai
The spaces and sculptures as well as the human relationships collected by in Murai’s series “Sculptures and Public Places” are unforgettable.
The book at hand is a compilation of previously unpublished works and the footprints of a career spanning 70 years, be it of modernist architecture in Europe or of structures overflowing with South Korea’s poetic sentiments. Thus an image emerges of the relationship between public life and space emerges, as witnessed by a photographer who habitually turned his gaze towards the desolate, overlooked spaces next to the main roads of the world.
