“Art is a mirror of the present moment, but good art can be a little ahead of its time. Right now, we are looking for ways to stop destroying the environment, but I hope we will soon realize that we are the environment, that the art we make now can guide our relationship with the natural world of the future.”
― Sam Falls, in his statement for a solo exhibition at Galerie Eva Presenhuber in Zurich

"The One Thing That Made Us Beautiful," published on the occasion of Sam Falls' first solo exhibition in Japan in spring 2024, interweaves exhibited artworks and paintings with photographs of Falls' personal life and a trip to Hokkaido.
In his work, which includes photography, painting, and sculpture, Falls attempts to engage nature through and outside of human cognitive filters such as language and categorization. In an interview with editor Shigeo Goto included in the back of the zine, Falls discusses his approach and the use of photography in his work.

“Art is an aesthetic process, and I like that my eight-year-old son and my mother can enjoy the artwork without knowing everything that goes into it conceptually. Moreover, if you know about the process and history of art, you can become more and more engaged and understand my work deeply as you spend more time with it.”
― from Sam Fall’s interview with Shigeo Goto
