SUB RHYME
With his photobook “Sub Rhyme”, Keisuke Asakura presents personal photographs taken in places all over Japan, and some outside of Japan. Not quite a travel diary, Asakura relies on the power of his images to tell individual tales and strings them together to form a larger picture. A photobook with a rare, unobtrusive strength.
“I was born on one edge of the world, so I felt I’d go and see the opposite edge as well.
I wanted to find out more about Japan, and about myself.
Then, I visited a friend who had moved to Berlin and got married.
And there, I found a new kind of life.
I feel like folding things together, origami-style – because when you put two edges of a paper together, you create something with three dimensions.”
