With “Simulacre,” published four years after her debut photobook “Paradigm,” Japanese photographer Satoko Nema continues to explore and question the possibilities of landscapes. In images that range from concrete and detailed to abstract and almost graphical, Nema goes beyond reproduction and representation; her photographs remind us that what we are looking at is the eye of the photographer, that the perception of the world through light itself forms a separation from the world.
