"Nippon” was a prewar Japanese propaganda magazine that brought together the talents of designers, writers, and photographers such as Yonosuke Natori, Yusaku Kamekura, Ken Domon, and Ayao Yamana. This first of three volumes contains issues 1 through 14.

Published in English, French, German, and Spanish, "Nippon" featured bold layouts with full-page spreads, avant-garde photography, and high-quality writing. Printed with high-end technology and created by leading designers such as Ayao Yamana, Takashi Kono, and Yusaku Kamekura, and photographers such as Yonosuke Natori, Ken Domon, and Ihei Kimura, the propaganda magazine marked a breakthrough in the evolution of Japanese graphic design, photography, and art direction.
The culmination of Yonosuke Natori's desire to create a magazine in Japan that could rival the best the West had to offer, “Nippon” launched the careers of many legendary talents who would go on to shape the visual world of postwar Japan.
