The state of Japan, mirrored in the red-hot glow of an iron mill.

Inspired by the ancient Japanese thought that gods and souls reside in objects, in his photobook “Mother” Japanese photographer Seido Kino treats iron as a living entity. The iron mill becomes a womb, not just for the iron products to be formed here, but also for Japan’s rapid economic post-war growth, the succession of skills and values from one generation to the next, and a Japan of the future, with foreign and young workers with new values working hand-in-hand with the older generation.
