With “Memoria,” published on occasion of the same-titled exhibition at the new Agnès b. Galerie Boutique in Tokyo, American photographer Chad Moore lays out a document of his youth.
In 100 photos, ranging from landscapes to detail shots to food diary-like pictures to intimate portraits, the last two years of Moore’s and his friends’ lives come into view. While Moore, an alumnus of Ryan McGinley’s NYC studio, employs the McGinley-typical warm filter of nostalgia for his pictures, he uses the effect to look forward rather than yearn for the past.
