“Matsuoka!”, the first photobook by Asami Minami, winner of the 2014 Canon New Cosmos of Photography Grand Prix Award.
“Matsuoka!” features countless scenes of a woman (the titular Matsuoka, a friend of Minami’s) running through Japan — from urban scenes like the famous Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo to fields, forests, deserts and parks. With a pinch of humor, Minami presents her model as the energetic protagonist of heroic scenes, sprinting away to (possibly) ward off danger or save someone from peril.
