“Chicharron” – winner of the 2018 Cosmos Arles PDF Award – features Hiro Tanaka’s highly-saturated flash photographs taken on the road in the US. The photographs (mostly close-ups of objects, landscapes, humorous scenes, and portrait snaps) are presented as diptychs in the book.
Tanaka first came to the United States after winning a free trip at a shopping mall raffle, then picked up photography when traveling around with punk bands.
