a priori
“I communicate a language that does not require words,
from the body to the body, from the skin to the skin.”
In 2018, fourteen years after her first works in the “a priori” series, a personal event urged the Japanese photographer Yoko Mazuki to once again think about the human body, its signals, its language, its limits, its connections.
Images that blend photographic expression, dance, gesture, truth, nature and artifice seem to rise up out of darkness to explore as much as to express.
“What is revealed, beyond what is seen by the eye, is invisible, inaudible, but felt certainly, communicated by a language more direct than words. My practice is a commitment in these senses.”
