Masanao HIRAYAMA
平山昌尚
Masanao Hirayama (HIMAA) was born in Hyogo Prefecture in 1976. Using only extremely familiar drawing materials such as ballpoint pens and markers on drawing paper, and sometimes using pens given to him as gifts or ready-made paints, he continuously creates drawings filled with symbolic silliness and devices. Through his simple and repetitive methods and approach, he creates unique works that combine the symbolic nature of knowing what is being drawn with the iconography of minute line swings and momenta tinged with sentimentality and humor. He has published numerous art books and held exhibitions in Japan and abroad.
