shashasha is an online bookshop based in Tokyo, Japan.
Since shashasha’s launch in 2012, we have specialized in photobooks and art books by a wide range of artists from all over the world. Our lineup includes new publications and self-published works as well as second-hand, rare or out-of-print books by newcomers, established artists and legendary masters.
Each book available on shashasha has been hand-selected and carefully considered. Based in Japan, we make use of our unique perspective and expertise to offer a diverse and enriching catalogue featuring works by interesting publishers and artists from Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia and the Americas.

Founder - Mark Pearson
Born 1960 in New Castle, England. Graduated from Emmanuel College Cambridge. Moved to Japan in 1981. Made a career in finance business and in 1998 established an investment company. A collector of Japanese photography and contemporary art. In 2009, started ZEN Foto Gallery in Roppongi Tokyo, which mainly introduces Japanese and Chinese photography.
CEO - Hiroshi Onishi
Born 1966 in Tokyo, Japan. Graduated from Aoyama Gakuin University, Department of Economics. After working for securities firm and bank etc, started Qlam Art Co. Ltd in 2005. Issuer of free paper“Article”. Radio personality of “Bunka Shien Monogatari” on Radio NIKKEI.
