totodo
totodo is an antiquarian bookstore dealing with old books related to art, photography, design, and architecture. We select mainly modern and contemporary basic books that can be called new classics, not only for their contents, but also for their bindings, textures, and other aspects that are comprehensively evaluated. The Shibuya store has a gallery space and holds special exhibitions several times a year.
The Toranomon store opened in April 2006. It later moved to Azabudai, and on May 18, 2009, opened an actual store in Yubiya-cho, Shibuya-ku.
The name of the shop was derived from the view of Tokyo Tower from the window of the room in Toranomon. The name “totodo” is a combination of “the scenery of the place where I started my business,” “the view of the precincts where the East Tower is located, which is associated with the Chinese characters,” and “the image of the characters when written in alphabetical form.
