Northern Diary
Robbie Lawrence’s “Northern Diary” consists of works from three projects created in Scotland in the past ten years: “A Voice Above the Linn” shot during visits to the home and garden of the late botanist and climate activist Jim McTaggart, scenes from Lawrence’s dancing short film “Blue Bonnets,” and “Family History” about the aftermath of Brexit. The photographs are presented as single, unbound prints of landscapes and people, captured by Lawrence’s remarkable painterly sensitivities and printed in thick, dense colors.
“With these projects my intention has been to reflect on the relationship between people and place, and create an affirmation of life north of the border against an increasingly fraught political landscape across the UK.”
