Born in 1928 in Kochi Prefecture, Japan. OKANOUE made collages based on old magazines left behind by the Allied Forces in the 1950s.Rediscovered by photography critic KANEKO, Ryuichi, she had exhibitions in Japan and abroad, including solo exhibitions at the Museum of Art, Kochi in 2018 and the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum in 2019. Her works are in the collections of The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, Tochigi Prefectural Museum of Fine Arts, The Museum of Art, Kochi, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, The Museum of Modern Art, New York and M+ Museum Hong Kong.
