Born in Hiroshima Prefecture in 1974, he graduated from the Department of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts in 1998. His works, such as “真昼” (2001) and “光と重力” (2009), depict everyday scenes such as streets, forests, and rooms, but with a sense of tranquility. In recent years, he has also carefully followed the work of photographers who were involved in photography in different capacities during World War II, and has created works such as “In Their Eyes” (2016), which presents memories of the past not as something detached from the present, but as something that comes to the present, and “The Light and Gravity” (2009), in which he photographed the buildings of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant from several mountaintops within a 30-km radius of the plant. In Their Eyes” (2016), in which the artist's own gaze is focused on the past not as something detached from the present, but as something that comes to the present.
