Akira Tanno (1925-2015) is widely known as a member of ViVO, a legendary group of photographers that included Akira Sato, Kikuji Kawada, Shomei Tomatsu, Ikko Narahara, and Eikoh Hosoe, and as a photographer who launched a photography movement on various political and social themes such as copyright issues, anti-nuclear power, and the Japanese Constitution. He is widely known as a photographer who has made the postwar Japanese photographic world a vibrant place.
